Uncover your potential', indeed! Once you stop ogling the girl, though, you might notice that this Australian Special Air Service (SAS) recruiting poster shows Australian Disruptive Pattern Camouflage to very good effect. [Image courtesy Brad Turner collection.]
M/90 'Ökenkammo'
Kingdom of Sweden
The UN created the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in December 2001. The primary task of this force is to support the Afghan interim administration in maintaining security in Kabul and the surrounding area.
Sweden has contributed to ISAF since the beginning of 2002. Initially, the Swedish initiative consisted of a Civil–Military Cooperation (CIMIC) unit and staff officers. When the mandate of ISAF was extended, in November 2003, to include action outside Kabul and the possibility of contributing to a Provincial Stabilisation Team (PST) in rural areas, the CIMIC unit was scheduled to be phased out by the end of February 2004.
Thereafter, the Swedish military contribution to ISAF was significantly increased.
This M/90 Ökenkammo (öken = 'desert'), which is worn by members of the Swedish ISAF contingent, is based upon the Swedish M/90 camouflage. It is likewise a four-colour splinter camouflage pattern, comprising earth brown, light green and medium grey elements on a sand-coloured background.
