Uncover your potential', indeed! Once you stop ogling the girl, though, you might notice that this Australian Special Air Service (SAS) recruiting poster shows Australian Disruptive Pattern Camouflage to very good effect. [Image courtesy Brad Turner collection.]
Belgian 'desert jigsaw'
Kingdom of Belgium
Introduced in 2004, this Belgian 'desert jigsaw' is a three-colour camouflage, comprising large, light green elements and small light brown elements on a sand-coloured background. The colours are reminiscent of U.S. 3-color desert camouflage.
Like many of the new crop of desert camouflage patterns, it is not much more than a re-purposed version of a pre-existing camouflage pattern. In this case the Belgian 'Jigsaw, 3rd pattern' camouflage was used as a starting point, with light green being substituted for maroon, light brown being substituted for black, and the sand-coloured base being substituted for the rest.
It is worn by personnel serving in Afghanistan.
