Patrón de Camuflaje Patriota
Republic of Colombia
Colombia can be divided into six very distinct natural regions: the Andean region; the Caribbean region; the Pacific region; the Orinoquía region; the Amazon region; and finally the insular region. Since U.S. woodland pattern camouflage is not suitable for use in many of the terrains that are encompassed by these natural regions, the Military Forces of Colombia (Spanish: Fuerzas Militares de Colombia) quickly recognised the need to design its own camouflage uniforms.
Sometimes called Pixelado, the unique Colombian Patrón de Camuflaje Patriota ('Patriot Pattern') digital camouflage pattern has been developed after many years of research, which was conducted jointly by the U.S. Army, the National Army of Colombia (Spanish: Ejército Nacional de Colombia) and Colombian Universities. In the end, three different colour schemes were produced: a predominantly green woodland variant; a predominantly brown desert variant; and a predominantly white snow variant. The woodland variant of Patriot Pattern, shown here, is a four-colour digital camouflage pattern. It was introduced into service in 2007, to be worn by members of the National Army of Colombia and the Colombian Air Force (Spanish: Fuerza Aérea Colombiana).
