Like most Roggenwolf camouflage patterns, six-colour 'Bone Forest' comprises both a macropattern and a micropattern. This photo, which was taken from a distance of 40 metres, illustrates the persistence and effect of the macropattern. [Image: Brad Turner.]
Roggenwolf 'Bone Forest' (proposal)
Commonwealth of Australia
Originally called 'Storm Front' — the name was somewhat ingenuously chosen because of the swirling leaf-like shapes throughout the pattern and because it had the same initials as 'Special Forces' — Roggenwolf 'Bone Forest' pattern camouflage was developed in April 2006. As a six-colour design, it represented a departure from Roggenwolf's usual four- and five-colour camouflage patterns.
In August of that same year, this pattern was selected for a proposal to the State Protection Group, which is part of the Specialist Operations (New South Wales) of the New South Wales Police Force. Unfortunately, the first print run of camouflage fabric was 'lost' while on its way from the United States of America and was never recovered.
A second run of 'Bone Forest' was produced in the United Kingdom and used to construct a trial uniform, which was displayed at the Land Warfare Conference and Exhibition 2007, which was held in Adelaide, South Australia, from 22 to 26 October 2007. To date, only one complete uniform is supposed to exist.
