Developed in 2008, the Swiss desert camouflage pattern appears to be a variation of Swiss woodland camouflage in which black has been replaced by red-brown, brown has been replaced by tan, medium green has been replaced by pale green, and khaki has been replaced by sand yellow.
Intended for missions abroad in arid terrain, Swiss desert camouflage is already being worn by members of Switzerland's newly-created special forces group, AAD-10 (Armee-Aufklärungsdetachement 10, 'Army Reconnaissance Detachment 10'), part of which has been, at the time of writing, deployed to protect ships in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.
